    Author Interview

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.

I am a supply chain transformation leader with over 25 years in the tech industry, but my deeper passion has been understanding the human mind through yoga, meditation, and Vedantic wisdom. My book A Monkey Became a Monk tells the story of Anurag, a character who reflects my own journey from grief and chaos toward clarity, focus, and purpose. Through this work, I hope to help people understand their minds and live more meaningful lives.

What authors, or books have influenced you?

I’ve been influenced by several authors and thinkers who blend storytelling with deeper meaning. Paulo Coelho inspired me with the way he tells simple yet powerful human stories that explore life’s deeper questions. Jay Shetty influenced how ancient wisdom can be explained in a practical way for modern life. Joseph Campbell’s idea of the hero’s journey also shaped how I think about personal transformation. On a more personal level, I’ve been deeply inspired by Swami Vivekananda and Guru Krishna, whose timeless teachings in the Bhagavad Gita continue to guide my understanding of the mind, purpose, and inner strength. These influences are reflected in my book A Monkey Became a Monk.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?

One of the best pieces of advice I have ever heard comes from the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita: focus on your actions, not on the results. This idea has had a profound influence on how I approach both life and work.

It reminds us that we cannot always control outcomes, but we can always control our effort, our intention, and our discipline. When we focus fully on the present action with clarity and sincerity, the results often take care of themselves.

This principle has guided me through many phases of my life, and it is also reflected in my book A Monkey Became a Monk, where the journey of Anurag shows how clarity of mind and focused action can transform how we experience life.

    What are you reading now?

Right now I’m reading The Beginning of Infinity by David Deutsch, which explores how knowledge and good explanations drive human progress. I’m also reading Virus of the Mind by Richard Brodie, which looks at how ideas spread and influence the way we think. Both books make me reflect deeply on how ideas shape the human mind.

What’s next for you as a writer?

For me, writing is not about impressing people. It is a way of expressing and understanding life more deeply. My first book, A Monkey Became a Monk, is part of a series that explores the journey of the mind through the character Anurag.

As a writer, I want to continue that exploration. Right now I am thinking about the next series called Knowledge to Wisdom (K2W). The idea behind this series is to explore how the wisdom from ancient teachings, especially the metaphor of the chariot in the Bhagavad Gita, can help us navigate the challenges of modern life.

My focus is on a simple but important question: How do we actually live these ideas in the real world? Not just understand them intellectually, but apply them in daily decisions, relationships, work, and purpose.

So the next phase of my writing will continue this journey from understanding the mind to learning how to live with clarity, balance, and wisdom.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where were you raised? Where do you live now? Do you have any pets?

I was born and raised in a very humble family in a small place where life was quite difficult. At that time there were no proper roads, no electricity, and extreme poverty was a part of everyday life. Those early experiences shaped my perspective on resilience, gratitude, and the importance of purpose.

Over the years, my journey has taken me far from where I started. Through education and work, I had the opportunity to travel and live in different parts of the world, including Korea, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. These experiences exposed me to different cultures and ways of thinking, which deeply influenced both my professional life and my writing.

Today, I live in the United States, where I continue my work in technology and supply chain transformation while also pursuing my passion for writing and sharing ideas about the mind, purpose, and personal growth.

What inspired you to write your first book?

The inspiration for my first book came from a very personal and difficult time in my life. I experienced the loss of my beloved brother and my father, and those losses deeply shattered me. It was a period filled with grief, confusion, and many questions about the meaning of life and suffering.

During that time, I turned to Vedantic teachings and the guidance of Guru Krishna, whose insights helped me begin to understand the nature of the mind, attachment, and acceptance. Those teachings did not remove the pain, but they helped me see it differently. Slowly, they helped me move from grief toward reflection, clarity, and healing.

Writing A Monkey Became a Monk became a way for me to process that journey. Through the character of Anurag, I was able to express my own path of loss, questioning, and gradual transformation. The book is not just a story; it is an attempt to share how wisdom and self-understanding can help us navigate some of the most difficult moments in life.
