Author Q&A
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Title: Beyond the Yellow Brick Road: Finding Your Emotional Home as a Caregiver
In my book, inspired by heartfelt conversations with my cousin, I delve into the profound reality that many caregivers struggle to feel at peace within themselves. Despite this inner turmoil, they bear the responsibility of tending to the unfulfilled requirements of those under their care, be it family or clients.
My mission is clear: to equip these dedicated caregivers with the necessary resources to discover their emotional sanctuary. It is essential that they too find solace and stability amidst the demanding yet rewarding journey of caregiving.
What are you working on now?
A book of original poems is next on my list. I enjoy reading and writing poetry. Although some of my books have poems integrated into them, I want to simply focus on a book of authentic poems.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write down all your ideas. Don’t leave your ideas floating in the wind. Most every idea you write down will find a home. If you write something and find that it doesn’t fit, don’t be afraid to remove it but save it. You never know if you will use it later down the road.
Set goals for your writing. Whether you plan to write a certain number of words or pages is up to you.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
In the emotionally demanding realm of caregiving, the concept of returning home to oneself holds immense significance. Creating a sanctuary within, a place of safety and solace, becomes paramount even before fully understanding the challenges the role may present.
Caregiving necessitates the construction of an internal refuge, a space you eagerly retreat to when faced with fragile relationships, life’s uncertainties, and perceived injustices. But how does one accomplish this?
There exist time-tested techniques that have proven invaluable, and I am privileged to offer insights into them.
Delving into the essence of crafting and rediscovering a secure internal abode, my latest book, “Journey Beyond the Yellow Brick Road: Finding Your Emotional Home as a Caregiver,” is tailored to assist you on this profound journey.
Penned with your well-being at heart, I aspire for it to serve as a beacon leading you to a home that warmly embraces you each time you return.
