Sweet Annie’s Grieving Tree, the second book in the Peanut Butter and Donner series, is a rhyming childrens picture book about grief, loss, and healing process told through the eyes of three lovable animal friends: Peanut Butter the bunny, Donner the parakeet, and Sweet Annie the duck.

When Annie shares that someone she loves has gone away, her usual sparkle fades. But instead of turning away, her friends stay close offering space to cry, comfort, and gentle understanding. As they sit together beneath their favorite tree, the friends discover that grief doesn’t have to be spoken perfectly to be shared and that kindness, play, and quiet company can help sadness soften.

This story was inspired by Erin Rosenblum’s personal and professional experiences with grief, emotional resilience, and healing. With developmentally sensitive language and comforting illustrations created by Aubree Rosenblum, the book supports children navigating all kinds of loss, not just death, but also natural disasters, life changes, or separations.

Perfect for ages 5-10, Sweet Annie’s Grieving Tree is a meaningful resource for parents, teachers, therapists, first responders, and caregivers.

Erin Rosenblum is a licensed therapist and children’s book author who brings warmth, clinical insight, and professional knowledge to every story she writes. For over 15 years, she has worked with teens and adults navigating anxiety, grief, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm. Her experience and education in developmental psychology give her a unique understanding of how children experience and express emotions, especially the ones that are hardest to talk about.

Her books reflect her core belief that stories can be both playful and powerful. With relatable animal characters, lyrical rhymes, and emotionally grounded narratives, Erin’s picture books gently support social-emotional learning, build emotional literacy, and create space for conversations about big feelings. Whether it’s fear, sadness, bravery, envy, or shyness, her stories are written to soothe, validate, and empower young readers.

When she’s not writing or working in her practice, Erin enjoys time with her family and friends or cozy moments at home with her beloved pets including the real Peanut Butter the rabbit and Donner the parakeet. Her books are born out of a deep respect for children’s emotional worlds and a belief that stories can help them feel seen, safe, and strong.
