Imagine sending your spouse to war with a heavy heart, then receiving a life-shattering phone call telling you he’s been badly injured. Your beloved returns to your arms, but changed, broken, angry, conflicted, and in need of around-the-clock care. What do you do?

Meet the women who drew upon their inner resilience and prevailed. Their vivid personal accounts provide inspiration to those who face daunting challenges, and offer a path forward. Each one of these brave, strong military spouses shares her personal tale of reuniting, recovering, and rebuilding with her catastrophically wounded warrior.

Wounded Warrior, Wounded Wife offers an intimate look into the chaotic and demanding lives of military spouses as they adjust to living with injured combat veterans. These women are thrust into caretaker roles for service members who return home with amputated limbs, brain injuries, burns, and disabilities, with virtually no support or training. Posttraumatic stress tears their families apart, and they must wrestle with huge, imposing questions: Does he still love me? Must I sacrifice my career forever? How will this affect my kids, my sex life, my happiness?

Wounded Warrior, Wounded Wife reveals the innermost thoughts of women who faced these challenges and prevailed–to not just survive, but thrive.

Contemporary Fiction/Drama – The Game That Never Ends

Her mother has marriage plans for her and takes Alex to Italy to keep them apart. He goes to Oxford University where he achieves great success in cricket and rugby football. For the next seven years their love has to overcome many conflicts and is sorely tested by a tragic event and her Catholicism. In 1961 now working in San Francisco and believing Alex lost to him forever, Sandy falls in love and marries Kate but Alex, now finally free of her marriage, returns to him plunging his life into chaos. Will he be able to bring an end to this never ending game?

The Game That Never Ends: A Story of Love and Games will appeal to both male and female readers because it’s a story about a young man’s of love, lost and found with religious conflict, abortion and his success as a cricket and rugby player.

Recent Praise for The Game That Never Ends:

“I wasn’t sure if I would like this book as I understood that while it was an adult love story, and I emphasize adult, there were sequences about games that I knew nothing about. The author weaves cricket and rugby football into this love story and I found that they added great interest. I suspect that the author wrote from life and what an interesting life it was. His descriptions of San Francisco in the 1960s as well as Oxford, London, Siena and Stockholm were delightful.

Most love stories I read are written by women with women as the main character and it was eye opening to read about it from a man’s side. The author has a fast paced style and I enjoyed every minute of the book. I finished it at two in the morning in just three days. I was hoping the game would never end.” – Early Reviewer, Mary Hadfield, of Yonkers, NY

“Hiding in plain sight, a predator stalks its prey…”

When Purvis Johnson fell on hard times, he agreed to sell most of his land to a real-estate developer. Before long, the dirt road that once served as his make-shift driveway became a paved street. Newly constructed houses sprung up on both sides. Families moved in. The quiet neighborhood became the perfect place to raise a family.

Meet Jake and Mary Bickman and their two sons, the first to move into their new home. Soon, Thomas and Gladys Jenkins buy the house across the street and introduce a beautiful baby girl to the world. The wealthy Peterson couple and their two children build the big house near the end of the block, right next door to the tiny shack where the Johnsons still reside. One by one, tragedy will strike them all.

Memoir – To Hell and Back

to-hell-and-backTo Hell and Back
By Michael Jackson

ISBN: 978-1682895351 (print)
ISBN: 978-1682895368 (digital)
ASIN: B01CLRGHTC

Genre: Non-Fiction, Memoir

Michael Jackson’s new book “To Hell and Back” is a philosophical, emotional, in-depth work that delves into the meaning of life, addiction and the human mind.

To Hell and Back is the author’s candid redemption memoir that documents his roller coaster journey through the peaks and valleys of undiagnosed bipolar disorder. The story covers Jackson’s successful advancement from a rough childhood in the Philadelphia ghetto to a stint in the Marines, a successful business career, and a happy marriage. All this was cut short by his plunge into the vile and decrepit world of a homeless drug addict, as he sought to self-medicate his mental illness. The book takes place on multiple continents and in many cities, with the unifying theme being the environments where the drug culture and mental illness clash in today’s metropolises, small towns, and rural bus stations. Jackson has known many of these places and has shared cardboard dwellings with their residents.
