What Could POSSIBLY Go Wrong Author - Eldon N. SpadyAbout the Author:

Growing up on the family farm, one of Eldon Spady’s jobs as a teenager was to provide kindling for the two wood stoves in the family farmhouse. He spent spent a number, of his summers days filling an old two-seater outhouse (whose original use became obsolete with the introduction of indoor plumbing) full of cedar kindling for the winter months. His reluctant assistants were two foster boys who lived with the family for a number of those years. To encourage their cooperation, he told stories while they worked—any one of which might go on for several days. As long as the tales continued, his helpers never staged a mutiny.

After writing three non-fiction books, and the first of the Billy bob Joe Block trilogy, Eldon has continued using his storytelling talents to deliver this tale: What Could Possibly Go Wrong?, the second in the Billy Bob Joe Block trilogy, based on the adventures of imaginary relatives who have populated his story telling for years.

In an age ruled by iron men, in a world of new discovery and Spanish gold, a young Irishwoman named Mary rises from the ashes of her broken childhood with ships and men-at-arms under her command. She and her loyal crew prowl the Caribbean and prosper in the New World for a time until the ugly past Mary has fled from in the old one finds her.

Across the great ocean to the east, war is coming. The King of Spain is assembling the most powerful armada the world has ever seen – an enormous beast – to invade England and depose the Protestant “heretic queen.” To have any chance against the wealth and might of Spain, England will need every warship, she will need every able captain. To this purpose, Queen Elizabeth spares Mary from the headman’s axe for past sins in exchange for her loyalty, her ships and men.

Based on true historical events, this is a tale about war, adventure, love and betrayal. This is a story about vengeance, this is a tale of heartbreak…

After a distinguished career as a professional beach volleyball player, Rachel Haslett’s father hands her the reigns to the Santa Barbara Charros, a class A minor league baseball team. She shakes the very foundation of the sport by hiring an all female staff and creating a highly successful marketing campaign called honeyball. To baseball purists it represents marketing sex over baseball. It’s a concept that results in the Charros’ becoming the all time minor league leader in attendance for a single season.

Rachel’s path to that record is cluttered with obstacles; she’s jailed for a parole violation, sexually assaulted by her parole officer, repeatedly chastised in print by a local sportswriter and haunted by the death of her father in a plane crash which she learns was not an accident.

Honeyball offers an intriguing and entertaining perspective of minor league baseball where a group of women pull together in a dedicated campaign to find success at the box office while their leader finally finds the love of her life and the persons responsible for the death of her father in a plane crash. This all happens before her team records its last out of its season.
